The ASC 2006 Christmas Party allowed friends, old and new, to come out and enjoy great weather, great skydives, and one great party. Although Saturday started off a little brisk, ASC jumpers came out and took advantage of all the fun in the sun they could handle. After the first load, it was evident that all that would be necessary to enjoy great skydiving weather would be a pair of gloves and two pairs of socks. Michael B. capitalized on the weather by making his 1100th jump. Jumpers honed there skills by participating in skydiving drills involving free flying, tracking, and relative work.
The night’s festivities began with the awards for the tracking competition. Michael B. of Team One showed a video which showcased all of our talented competitors. In all, there were about nine teams in the event. Congratulations to Wayne McComb and Jessica Edgeington for winning the competition. Nice Job!
After dinner, everyone enjoyed ASC’s first ever film festival. Clark Word, Chuck
Owen, Kate Hoffstetter, Mike Stone, and Noah Bahnson made videos that ranged from skydiving related to space exploration. All of the films were fantastic, but we could only have one winner. Kate Hoffstetter and Mike Stone, who tied for the best film, settled their tie with 3 rounds of Paper, Rock, and Scissors. Kate won the competition and the big prize. She won a hot air balloon ride for her film, “Tandem Montage”.
The evening continued to roll on with The White Elephant Gift Exchange. This was the ninth year of the gift swapping shenanigans. Cary Q. brought back a gift from the first White Elephant, spaghetti-Os and grape jelly. Whoever ended up with the gift at the end of the game won 200 dollars from Cary. It must have been Kate’s day, because she won the $200, as well as, the film festival.
