The frigid air kept jumping to a minimum this week
until Sunday when the sun warmed us up to about 55
degrees. Local swoopers were out training and
experienced jumpers kept the Twin Otter flying all
day long.
On Saturday, we flew a few loads, but jumpers took
advantage of the down time to order new gear for the
when the weather warms up. Darren Doyle and Laura
O'Dowd ordered custom Mirage G4s that should be
delivered by mid-February. And Florida jumper Bill
Knowles decided he had rented long enough and
purchased a brand new Dolphin. Our beer fridge is
sure to be full soon!
Make sure you pick up the latest issue of "The Auto
Pilot." The January/February 2004 issues features a
two-page spread on a jump made by Jason Taylor at
Atlanta Skydiving Center last November. There is a
great photo of a funneled AFF exit out of the CASA as
well as a nice recovery photo with Jesse Watson and
Ben Butler as instructors. Instructors Jim Ware,
Stewart Cavanaugh, Jim Vance and Darren Doyle are
featured throughout the article. Manifest has several
copies for those interested.
Keep thinking thoughts of tropical weather! We're
still open every day for those that want to brave the
cold. Every day there's always at least 4 of us who
want to make hop n' pops, so come jump if you can get
the day off of work.
Cheers!
