Wednesday was a day of firsts at ASC as local jumper
Rick Bray capped off his first day in the tandem
instructor course with a jump on Sigma tandem gear.
Rick is finishing up his instructor training under
tandem examiner Stewart Cavanaugh this week. Also on
Wednesday, AFF student Richard graduated on a level 7
sunset jump with instructor Mike Gruwell. Nice
stand-up landing Richard!
Punkin' Chunkin' was back for it's sixth year and
beginners luck ruled on Saturday as a tandem student
took home the pot of money when her pumkin hit only 7
yards from the target. On Sunday the competition
wasn't quite as fierce. At 30 yards, packer Ryan Clough's
pumpkin was the closest. Woohoo!
About 30 jumpers dressed up for Saturday's Halloween
Costume Party and scarfed down the free dinner from
the Cutaway Cafe. Jumpers in costume were rewarded
with $15 jumps all day Sunday. Ben Butler was the
"Pimp Daddy" as Amanda and Laura were his "hoes."
Stewart and Blythe were Satan and Temptation who
contrasted well with the "Angel," Kristen.
Skydivers enjoyed the 80 degree weather and slight
breeze the entire weekend as summer continued to hang
on in Georgia. Members of Team Flatline were
organizing freefly jumps on Sunday while instructor
Kevin Kaminski put together some 5- and 6-way belly
jumps. Pro swooper Nate Gilbert was giving landing
tips to experienced jumpers. Thanks to our pilot Dan
Droppo for another weekend of perfect spots for all
of the Super Twin Otter's 28 loads.
Don't forget the $15 jumps all Wednesday out of the
Otter as well as $15 jumps on Saturday ! and Sunday
before 10 a.m. See you at the DZ!
