Due to low clouds, cold weather and an upcoming swoop
meet, Monday through Thursday at ASC was full of hop
and pops. Rigger/Instructor Chuck Owen and freeflier
Tyler Lawson headed to DeLand Thursday night for the
weekend swoop meet. On Thursday the clouds broke open
in the afternoon allowing the Twin Otter to fly.
Friday turned out to be a beautiful jumping
day...especially for Geir Bjoran who graduated the
AFF program that afternoon. Geir completed levels 5,
6 and 7 without a hitch and immediately supplied ASC
jumpers with beer and rootbeer. Nice job Geir!
Clouds and rain rolled in for the weekend. We still
managed to get four Twin Otter loads and two Cessna
loads off Saturday morning. Woohoo! 4-way team
Intrepid trained on Saturday and spent most of the
day creeping and watching video under the watchful
eye of coach Doug Glover. The team looked good in the
little time it got in the air.
The Saturday night party ended up at a local bowling
alley with about 25 ASC regulars. Fast Eddie, Vitali
and Tatyana were some of the higher scorers. Thanks
to Ben for the free food and beverages! Mike to the G
was in rare form, although Nate was to blame for one
bowling incident. :-)
And a big congrats to Tyler Lawson for his 6th place
finish at the DeLand swoop meet! Who says a Nitron
can't swoop? Well, he'll be ordering a Velocity soon
enough.
Hope to see you all Wednesday for $15 jumps. And if
the weather is good Saturday and Sunday, get out to
ASC early for the $15 early bird jumps before 10 a.m.
Bring your gloves...it'll be chilly!
