12.50 Lift Ticket Boogie at ASC starts Saturday!

Atlanta Skydiving Center’s $12.50 Lift Ticket Boogie is this Saturday and Sunday! In addition to the low lift ticket prices to 14.500 feet out of the Super Twin Otter, ASC has several events planned for the weekend.

Don’t miss out! There is a $15 boogie registration fee for the $12.50 Lift Ticket Boogie.

TJ Landgren will be available for Freefly organizing and coaching all weekend while Mike Gruwell will be available for Relative Work organizing and coaching.

Free Performance Designs demo canopies are available throughout the boogie weekend. We have several Spectre, Sabre2, Katana, Velocity and PD Reserve canopies on risers ready to be put in your container to try out. Take advantage of the demo reserve canopies, which will prepare you better for that next reserve deployment and landing. For a complete list of available canopies, see the ASC Skydiver Forums.

Mirage representatives will be onsite with several stock containers. If you have any questions about the latest Mirage features, this weekend those questions will be answered straight from the manufacturer. And check out the latest Mirage shirts at the Skydivegear.com store next to manifest.

Jeff Wills will host Casino Night Saturday after the sun goes down. A $10 entry fee and a hat of any kind will get you into the event. The poker champion gets the entry fee pot, four free ASC lift tickets and other prizes.

Tyler Lawson will be organizing a pond swoop competition over the ASC pond on Sunday morning. See Tyler to register for the event. Cash prizes for the top three places.

A free dinner will be provided to all boogie participants by the Carbonezone and Atlanta Skydiving Center Saturday night. Sign up throughout Saturday at manifest.

ASC Instructors Jim Vance and Stewart Cavanaugh will hold water training Friday night at a local hotel pool. For those of you who are missing water training to earn your B License for the night jumps, take advantage of this training! Meet at the Atlanta Skydiving Center building between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday night. We will caravan to the pool for training.

Afterward we will have a pizza party at ASC. A $20 per person fee includes the training, pool rental and pizza party.

Congratulations to Scott Shell who earned his USPA A License on Sunday! He also owes beer for the first jumps on his new Mirage container. And he’s not the only one; Chuting Star Rigging Loft has assembled several new Mirage containers for ASC jumpers over the past few weeks. You’ll see Bob Seaman, Jesse Cusic, Maria Funari, Nick Carter, Gunnar Jeannette, Trey Edwards and Stewart Cavanaugh sporting new Mirage containers this weekend!

Atlanta Skydiving Center team Mr. Pink had two of its members tie the knot over the weekend. Jennifer Gruwell married Glen Hauenstein at a ceremony in Powder Springs. A NOTAM was filed for a jump into the wedding, but logistics didn’t work out for the jump. Jen (KidPink) and Glen (Mr. Purple) have not only jumped together on the Mr. Pink 4-way team over the past several years, but also work together at Eaton Academy. Several skydivers were at the wedding including brother Mike Gruwell (Mr. Silver), Bobby May (Mr. Jade), Kurt Gaebel (Papa Pink) and Robert Anderson (Mr. Black). The pink and purple colors showed a clear Mr. Pink theme at the wedding. The newlywed couple headed to St. Lucia for their honeymoon with plans of scuba diving and relaxation. While the team had a one-year hiatus this season due to personal commitments, expect to see the team jumping at ASC starting early next year. Congratulations to the Glen and Jen Hauenstein! Beer!

Collegiate 4-way team Georgia Tech Airlock was out training at ASC Saturday and Sunday. The team is preparing for this year’s collegiate competition.

Thanks to Nick Moulson, the Skydivegear.com store now is staffed full-time throughout the weekend. Nick was helping skydivers out with everything from batteries to T-Shirts to Gatorz to log books. We just received a shipment of Holiday Para-Pets n time for the Christmas season. Come check out the cute holiday skydiving gift ideas hanging inside the store.

And finally, a big thanks to the newest Atlanta Skydiving Center staff member Justin Thorton who helped take up several tandem students on their first jump Saturday and Sunday! Expect to see Justin out on a regular basis at ASC in the future. Justin is not only a tandem instructor and swoop competitor, but a Mirage representative.

See you all this weekend! And if you get a day off this week, the Super Twin Otter is flying all week long as always! Come jump!
