It was another full week of skydiving at ASC! Thanks for coming out
and jumping with the Atlanta Skydiving Center crew.
A special thanks is due to Wayne McComb for his weekend morning
doughnuts! The ASC regulars are always thankful for a little sugar to get the
morning going.
We have a new extreme canopy pilot in the making...Shannon
"Swooper Chic" McQueary. Shannon made hop and pops on every
other load throughout Saturday flying her brand new Sabre2
120. She says she was just working on her flare, but we
all know she's the next "super swooper" in the making.
Congratulations to a good showing by our ASC swoopers at this
weekend's meet in Florida. Kenny Pugh, Vitali T., Tyler Lawson and Mark Shimell
all did well at the meet. Meanwhile, back at home in Cedartown, Michael
Blankinship was honing his skills with a few picture perfect swoops
over the ASC pond this weekend. Jim Vance and Nate Gilbert also joined in
the pond action.
Master Rigger Mike Gruwell registered his 100th save this week due to
Jim Vance's reserve ride with his brand-new Mirage. Jim was back in the
air the same day thanks to a quick turnaround at Chuting Star Rigging
Loft.
ASC 4-way team Kinesis trained on Saturday and Sunday. The team was
preparing for Georgia Skydiving League Meet #2 set for May 29 at ASC.
The 15 jumps were done under the watchful eye of Kim Glover, a member of
the women's USA 4-way formation team Synchronicity.
And we can't end this week's news bits without mentioning Kevin
Kaminski and his work at Alabama Skydiving Center in Pell City this weekend.
Kevin had a full day taking up new skydivers on tandem jumps on Saturday.
Nice job Kevin!
Don't forget that this weekend Nate Gilbert will be organizing
Georgia state head down formation record attempts at ASC. Come support our
head down flyers as they attempt to set a new head down record!
And for those who want a taste of BirdMan flying, Baxter Gillespie
will have a selection of demo BirdMan wingsuits and will be providing
First Wingsuit Instruction Training and Coaching. The cost is $60 plus two
slots which includes first jump ground instruction, suit rental and in-air
evaluation. You will need at least 200 jumps, a stable canopy that
you are current on and a container with a BOC pouch.
See you all for $15 Wednesday!
