What a great weekend of skydiving! The Super Twin Otter flew
all weekend long in Cedartown, while our new Porter flew all
weekend at Alabama Skydiving Center in Pell City.
Congratulations to Charlie Cummings who earned his A License
after mastering his last requirement: the A License checkout
dive. Instructor/Coach Jim Vance said Charlie performed
flawlessly on the ground and in the air! Charlie's proficiency
card has been faxed to the United States Parachute Association
and his A License is on the way. Nice job Charlie!
We have three newbie skydivers among our ranks at ASC.
Mark Christie, Rodrigo Bianchini and Alesha Noble each completed
their 7th level of Accelerated Freefall instruction this
weekend. We're looking forward to seeing more of you at
ASC!
The 8-way teams were training on Saturday, as well as
Georgia Tech 4-way team, GT Airlock. GT Airlock was training
under the watchful eyes of Allison Yasitis and Brian Timberlake,
but veteran organizer and trainer Doug Glover was never
far away to provide advice and support. Saturday, we finished
the day with a beautiful Sunset Big Way! Members from all
three teams plus a couple of staff members combined for
a 14-way multiple-point skydive. Greg Harmon was generous
enough to offer video, so click
here to view the Big Way, and see a list of everyone
involved!
It was great to see Chris Curry back in the air after
his winter layoff. Following a checkout dive with Jim, he
jumped the rest of the day. Welcome back Chris! And check
out the photo of Chris in a hot RW dive with the Carbones
and Mike Gruwell on the cloud wall next to manifest the
next time you're out at ASC.
Tim Allen was visiting us again this weekend from Frontier
Skydiving. He took advantage of Nate Gilbert's freefly coaching,
to sharpen his skills. Tim seemed to enjoy himself, but
was anxious to return to his home DZ where he has new gear
waiting for his return. Tim is not able to visit often,
but we hope that he will join us again next time he is in
Atlanta!
A big thanks to Edvaldo Cruz for the blue sky and cloud
paint job downstairs. Edvaldo will be painting up the stairwell
to the second floor soon.
It's going to be an exciting boogie weekend at Atlanta
Skydiving Center starting Saturday as container manufacturer
Mirage will be in town with a booth and demo rigs. Come
check out the latest Mirage features. Factory stock rigs
from Mirage will be available to try on and purchase in
addition to the selection already in stock at ASC. Kim of
Mirage will also give away a 35% discount certificate on
a new Mirage container. Woohoo!
Saturday and Sunday will also feature $12.50 lift tickets
for experienced jumpers! There is a $15 registration fee.
So come enjoy the cheap lift tickets as well as the free
open bar Saturday night!
And lastly, don't forget the $15 lift tickets on Wednesday
as well as the Breakfast Club of Canopy Piloting on Thursday
morning at 8:30 a.m. Come jump the Porter and Super Otter!
See you at ASC!
