Atlanta Skydiving Center added forums this week to the
revamped ASC web site. This will be a great place to get
last minute news, discuss skydiving related topics or just
have a little fun when the weather won't allow us to skydive!
Just click on the forums link at the side of this page,
register and then post about whatever you want to talk about.
The weather has sure tried to work against us this past
week, but we've been able to skydive during the sun breaks
or when the clouds were high enough. A big thanks to our
pilots Henry, Shawn and Carl for helping the skydivers get
in the air between passing clouds and storms! Nice job guys!
We had four 4-way teams out this weekend competing in
the Georgia Skydiving League meet as well as training for
Nationals. Inviscid, Airlock, Intrepid and Kenesis were
all looking good!
Mike Carroll became the proud owner of an ASC rental rig
that fit him perfectly. Mike purchased the Mirage container
with Sabre2 230 main this week and jumped at Alabama Skydiving
Center in Pell City on Saturday. He ended up with his first
reserve ride of his skydiving career on his second jump
with his new gear when he unstowed the toggles incorrectly.
No panic from Mike, just a smooth cutaway and reserve deployment.
It was save number 145 for Chuting Star Rigging Loft. Nice
job on the reserve inspection/repack Chuck Owen!
ASC now has a removable swoop course set up in the main
landing area thanks to Jim Vance, Tyler Lawson and Kenny
Pugh. Foam noodles can be set up for North or South landings,
or removed when not in use. The course helps our canopy
swoopers practice for upcoming competitions and also serves
as a good accuracy course for other jumpers.
And lastly, we are all looking forward to this holiday
weekend at the CASA will be in town Friday through Monday.
Come jump the tailgate! The boogie will include BirdMan
jumps with Baxter Gillespie, Sunrise Rigging onsite with
demo Wings containers, Freefly and RW organizing, Carbonezone
food and a free open bar Saturday night.
