Full Moon Night Jumps at Atlanta Skydiving Center

Katie Hawkins rounded up more than 10 jumpers to make night jumps on Tuesday at Atlanta Skydiving Center. The two loads flew out of the Twin Otter under a full moon just after 10 p.m. and the jumps went off perfectly. Thanks to Sun Man for dishing out the comic relief with a naked night jump on the second load. Bryan McGuigan gets the "hero" award for making two successful night jumps during ongoing recovery from shoulder and face surgery.

Beer is owed by four AFF graduates this week: Nick, Mark, Charles and Jody. Nice job guys. Jody is off to Italy for a year and a half, but we will be seeing more of Nick, Charles and Mark jumping at ASC! And we look forward to seeing Jody when he returns from his last stint of fulltime military duty.

Check out Stewart Cavanaugh's new Sigma when you get a chance. Stewart and Blythe recently purchased their own Sigma tandem rig. Blythe and Mike of Chuting Star Rigging Loft finished assembling the new rig Wednesday. Stewart will be unmistakable in the skies over ASC with his "Smurf Blue" HOP 330 tandem main. The rig looks sharp! And Stewart gave a very thorough seminar on spotting as part of our weekly Saturday night safety seminar at ASC.

Stewart wasn't the only one with a new rig this week as Baxter had his rig delivered on Friday to Chuting Star and he was jumping his silver/yellow Javelin with the BirdMan mod and Velocity 84 on Saturday. Baxter said the Velocity was much quicker than his Cobalt...yeah, baby!

Make sure you welcome Jon Frederickson to ASC as he is down from Nebraska for three weeks working at Chuting Star Rigging Loft. You should see a lot of Jon this summer as he plans on working at ASC off and on throughout the summer. Rigger Kenny Pugh registered a save on Saturday as Tyler Lawson cutaway from line twists.

Kinesis was training Saturday, making 14 jumps and keeping the packers busy. The clouds and a little rain came and left early Saturday, but we kept jumping. Skydivers just had to jump from a little lower altitude on a few jumps.

Lastly, Saturday night was the premier of the ASC After-Hours Bar. The liquor showed up late, but Anne and Ian christened the bar with shots of Jack Daniels. The free bar will be open every Saturday night on the deck.

Thanks for a great week! Looking forward to seeing everyone Wednesday for $15 Twin Otter jumps.
