Atlanta Skydiving Center - Team
One Gearing Up for “Good Vibes Boogie” March
25th-27th
Atlanta
Skydiving Center jumpers laid sod around the swoop pond last
week in anticipation of the first Atlanta Skydiving
Center swoop meet of the year during the “Good
Vibes Boogie” March 25th-27th. Swooper, Tyler Lawson,
will host the meet. Get ready to show off your swooping skills
at the Atlanta Skydiving Center pond! Team
One posted flyers about the upcoming boogie around the drop
zone last weekend as the freefly team will be organizing
and coaching all weekend long. SunMan and Michael B. will
use footage from the boogie for a “Good Vibes”
video. Make sure you are a part of the video!
Atlanta Skydiving Center’s Super
Twin Otter and King Air will fly all weekend long during
the March boogie. Experienced skydivers will get $12.50
lift tickets to 14,000 feet. In addition to the free organizing/coaching
from Team One, the $15 registration fee gets you the cheap
lift tickets as well as dinner and beer on Saturday night.
Weather
limited last weekend’s Valentine’s Weekend Boogie
to three days of jumping as Monday was rained out. But we
had absolutely beautiful weather on Saturday! Brian Ward
made his 400th jump on a tracking dive with Team One. Autumn
had her first malfunction, followed by a perfect reserve
opening packed by Blythe Jordan of Chutingstar.
Bryan McGuigan returned from a week trip to Eloy to jump
with TJ Landgren followed by a week in Florida to work on
canopy skills with Scott Miller. Chutingstar registered
a save in Florida when McGuigan cutaway from line twists.
The beer fridge is now stocked at the rigging loft!
Congratulations
to Blythe, who had her photo of Kenny Pugh swooping the
deck at Atlanta Skydiving Center, featured
as the “Photo of the Month” at www.canopypiloting.com.
Check out the photo above the window of the Skydivegear.com
store inside the ASC building.
Four Atlanta Skydiving Center jumpers
are working on their Accelerated Free Fall ratings this
week as USPA President Glenn Bangs is in town for the certification
course. Make sure you give some encouragement to the candidates
this weekend, as the jumpers will be working to pass the
air evaluation jumps with Glenn and Fast Eddie Grantland.
Edvaldo Cruz, Aaron Teel, Katie Hawkins and Henry Schaefer
are all vying to become Accelerated Free Fall instructors!
Finally,
all of you Neptune owners should see Blythe, our Alti-2
Field Representative, for the latest software update. Alti-2
says the update to version 2.3.1 will eliminate all known
software bugs. The update doesn’t take long and it
is free, but due to the volume of Neptune altimeters at
Atlanta Skydiving Center, you may need
to leave your Neptune with Blythe and pick it up the next
time you are out.
Don’t forget about the $15 jumps every Wednesday
at Atlanta Skydiving Center! See you all
this week.
