Inviscid 2004 Georgia Skydiving League Champions
ASC 4-way team Inviscid secured its first-ever Open Class
Championship in the Georgia Skydiving League with an 11.3-point
average over 10 rounds at this weekend's meet in Cedartown.
Way to go! The team of Allison Yasitis, Brian Timberlake,
Alex Jordaan and Craig Sellars with Randy Cooke on video
will be heading to the U.S. Nationals in Perris Valley in
October.
The
final GSL meet of the season was held Saturday and Sunday
at Atlanta Skydiving Center. Team GT Airlock took first
place in the intermediate class followed by pickup team
5 Minute Call. GT Airlock was crowned GSL Intermediate Champion
for 2004. GT Airlock, in the bright yellow suits, is Adam
Chamely, Nate Fisher, Shane Migliore and Omar Mireles with
Greg Harmon on video.
In addition to the Georgia Skydiving League meet, the
10 rounds of competition this weekend was part of the nationwide
National Skydiving League Playoffs. Inviscid and GT Airlock
qualified for the National Skydiving League Championship
at Skyquest in November. ASC canopy swoopers Tyler Lawson
and Kenny Pugh will be competing at Skyquest in the pond
swooping event.
Tyler
and Kenny, along with a few ASC staff members and several
members of the 4-way teams put together an 11-way belly
dive on Sunday before sunset EdValdo will be razzed for
weeks for his aerobatics underneath the formation as he
fell low on the dive and struggled to get back up...it made
for some cool video! :-)
Tyler, Kenny, Bruno Asmann and Mike Gruwell managed to
get a little action across the pond this weekend at ASC.
But Mike to the G gets the water award this weekend for
his drenching on his first jump on Saturday morning and
last jump on Sunday night.
We have a new skydiver in our midst as Josh Milliken graduated
the ASC AFF student program over the weekend. Thanks for
the beer! And we have two more skydivers, Linda and Steve,
which passed level 6 and plan on graduating this upcoming
weekend!
TJ
Landgren made his first jumps back from his broken arm injury
with several hop, pop and swoops. Welcome back TJ! And when
not jumping, TJ has been taking photos and video of landings
and giving all the ASC jumpers great feedback on improving
landings. Thanks TJ!
Gunner Jeannette (a sports car racing driver in real life)
celebrated his 100th skydive at ASC with a 3-way freefly
dive with Vitali and Adam. Jeannette treated himself to
a new G4 Mirage container, canopies and freefly suit at
the end of the weekend. Gunner will be racing at the Petit
Le Mans at Road Atlanta Sept. 22-25. Good luck Gunner!
ASC welcomed several jumpers from Alabama on Sunday. Several
jumpers made a road trip over to Cedartown from Pell City
on Sunday to jump the Super Twin Otter at ASC. Recent Pell
City AFF graduate Racheal decided on purchasing a Mirage
G3 and Sabre2 150...and was jumping her rig all Sunday!
Sheena
was out on Sunday recovering from her broken ankle and looking
forward to getting back in the air soon. Meanwhile, Tami
and Scotty Carbone returned from the boogie circuit this
weekend. Welcome home! Everyone has missed you two crazy
skydivers as well as the Carbonezone Cut-Away Cafe food!
And talk about cutaways...we had three this weekend as Chuting
Star Rigging Loft racked up three saves. Mike Gruwell cutaway
from slider hangup on Saturday, Adam cutaway from tension
knots on Sunday followed by Woody who had a lineover. Chuck
Owen added two saves to his list while Mike added one. Chutingstar
now has more than 150 documented saves! All three skydivers
had beautiful reserve deployments and soft landings Woohoo!
Skydive!
Just
as we finished up the ASC news for the week, Jordan Thomas
Butler was born Monday morning at 2:45 a.m. Tammy and Ben
are proud new parents! Congrats! Jordan weighs 9.1 ounces
and is 21 inches long.
And finally, check out the ASC Calendar of Events. We
have a $12.50 Lift Ticket Boogie scheduled in October. We've
also set the date for the 8th
annual Punkin' Chunkin' and "White Elephant"
Christmas Party. Check out the calendar and forums for more
info!
