Sunset Memorial Ash Dive for Nate Planned

Nate Gilbert's ashes will be released over Atlanta Skydiving Center Saturday at sunset. A Twin Otter load of friends and family is being organized by TJ Landgren, Ian Gilbert and Katie Hawkins. Friends and family of Nate from around the country have already started showing up at ASC for Nate's dive. Memories of Nate can be found at www.ascskydive.com/nate.

Drop zones around the United States, and even one in Mexico, participated in sunset tracking dives to remember Nate last Saturday. At ASC, our Twin Otter was full. We divided the load into two, 12-way tracking dives organized by Kenny Pugh and Mike Gruwell. Katie led the first group while Dave Hebert led the second group. The sunset was absolutely beautiful and both groups had dives that will not be forgotten. ASC is collecting photos and videos from the tracking dives around the nation to give to friends and family members.

A Nate Gilbert charity raffle, organized by Rick Bray, Stewart Cavanaugh and Mike Gruwell, is underway at ASC. Raffle tickets are available for $20 each at the ASC manifest office. All money will be given to the Gilbert family. The raffle will be held this Saturday night. Prizes include 1 hour of free wind tunnel time at Skyventure, free coaching jumps with a variety of local freefly, canopy and belly-fly coaches, 1/2 hour aerobatic ride with John Gunn as well as discount certificates from Nate's sponsors...and much, much more. Get your tickets today!

Sunday was an absolutely beautiful day of jumping at ASC. Clouds were hovering around, but we were able to jump all day long.

Congratulations to our latest AFF graduate Chris Simpson! Chris came out on Sunday afternoon and needed to complete the final three levels. He aced levels 5, 6 and 7! Nice job, Chris...looking forward to seeing you at ASC every weekend.

Response has been great for our live water training set for Friday, August 6th. A sign-up sheet is posted on the cork board inside ASC's main packing area. This not only qualifies skydivers for their B License, but is a good refresher course for those who haven't had water training in years. The water training will be held at a Cedartown gym. We'll meet at ASC, caravan to the gym, have the water training lesson and then return to ASC for pizza and beverages.

See you all this weekend!

Blue Skies Nate. . .
