Mikes hit milestone jump marks over Atlanta Skydiving Center

Instructors Mike Stone and Mike Gruwell (pictured right) hit milestone jump numbers last weekend at Atlanta Skydiving Center. Tandem Instructor Mike Stone made his 600th jump (and 100th tandem) with an11-way tandem formation dive on Sunday. Mike took up girlfriend Crystal while 9 other experienced skydivers built a line alongside the tandem pair. Stone was pied after the dive. Woohoo! Crystal also completed her A-License requirements last week and can now start jumping with all the rest of us licensed skydivers!

Meanwhile, instructor Mike Gruwell celebrated his 5000th skydive in a 4-way freefly dive with David Fowler, Gunnar Jeannette and Laura O'Dowd. The group took off a head-down flower and then transitioned to a sit-fly with Mike and Gunnar in a stair-step dock.

Atlanta Skydiving Center welcomes back tandem instructor Niki Madeheim from South Africa. Niki will be skydiving at the drop zone for the next three months and hopes to stay longer, if possible. Skydivers should check out the new Micro Sigma tandem rigs that Niki, Mike and Stewart now jump. These smaller tandem rigs just came out of production last month from Relative Workshop and feature the latest advancements in tandem skydiving technology. The rigs also better fit today's tandem main and reserve canopies, which have become too small for the older tandem containers. The drop zone has several of these new rigs on order as well.

TJ Landgren was in town last week, practicing for a swoop competition and making some freefly jumps. TJ was testing out a prototype canopy from Icarus with 11 cells. TJ will be back in July for the Nate Gilbert "Have a Good Jump" Boogie.

Laura (pictured right) and Jessica have moved into their own apartment close to the DZ. The two are now working fulltime at Atlanta Skydiving Center. A house-warming party was thrown last week.

Congratulations to ASC teams Airlock, Last Minute and Inviscid who competed at the second Georgia Skydiving League meet of the season and placed high. Don't forget the cases of beer.and now it's time to get those A licenses so you can start jumping with the rest of us skydiving addicts.
